Mt. Pilatus Tour

Ride the ferry to the base on the mountain, then ride the steepest cogwheel train in the world to the top of Mt. Pilatus at 7,000 ft (2,128 m). Enjoy panorama views of mountains, lakes and villages, indulge in the local cuisine, or take a walk at through the “Dragons Cave”. Descend via gondola to the opposite side of the mountain and return with your guide by public bus to Lucerne’s city center.

Tour description:   You will sail for about 1 hour on Lake Lucerne until you reach the base of the mountain. You will access the summit via the steepest cogwheel in the world. Hold on tight to your seat for the 48°inclination! Enjoy a 360° view of mountains, lakes and villages, indulge in the local cuisine, or take a walk at through the “Dragons Cave”. Descend via gondola to the opposite side of the mountain and return with your guide by public bus to Lucerne’s city center.

What we love about it: This is the closest mountain to the city and therefore easily accessible. At 7000 feet/ 21286 meters it is also the the highest mountain around Lake Lucerne.

Insiders tip: If time and weather permit, be adventurous and race down the longest summer toboggan in Switzerland!
